In 2016, Dan met with Keith at an exhibition hosted by Virgin Money, Haymarket, London. Dan made several pencil studies after the encounter and eventually completed these in 2022 after alterations.
This drawing will be auctioned to benefit Victoria Cross Trust and 617 Group (Penarth) charities.
The drawing will be couriered to world-wide destinations fully insured at no additional fee.
Keith Payne, VC, AM (born 30 August 1933) is a retired Australian soldier and a recipient of the Victoria Cross (VC), the highest decoration for gallantry “in the presence of the enemy” awarded to members of the British and Commonwealth armed forces. Payne’s VC was awarded for his actions during the Vietnam War. Aged 91, he is the last living Australian recipient of the original Imperial Victoria Cross.
